 By Andreas Knuf
Subject: Roads to recovery from BPD
Target audience: Therapists, doctors, care workers, family members of BPD sufferers as well as those affected by the illness who want to learn from the experiences of others who are affected and of those who have recovered.
Content:
The book provides a fascinating kaleidoscope of the roads to recovery from BPD. It gives young people with this mental dysfunction hope and explains which steps other sufferers have taken. This book not only shows that recovery is possible but also how to achieve it. For this purpose Andreas Knuf asked sufferers to describe theirs roads to recovery. It is not surprising that the factors and preconditions mentioned as being important to everyone were very similar: People who stayed in contact even during the onset of the illness; therapists who were noticeably human and took the sufferer seriously; self-help and the decision to make their own choices. The roads taken to get there are, in contrast, totally individual in the same way that recovery itself is a process of development, which can take different courses.
